DESCRIPTION:
Kick off your next vacation with us here at Swimming Bear Lodge! Located off Paradise Heights, the home has lake access as well as close proximity to all local attractions. When first walking in you are welcomed by an open concept living room, with floor to wall wood finishings and wall of windows allowing the home to be flooded with natural light creating an extra sense of warmth and comfort. Wake up feeling rejuvenated and take advantage of the ample outdoor seating on the back deck to soak in the sunrise! Go for a brisk morning walk throughout the quiet neighborhood, then head out for a fun filled day! In the Winter months make sure to pack up your snow gear for a day spent out on the slopes where there are trails for all levels of skiing or snowboarding. Looking for something to do indoors? Head over to Deep Creek Fun Zone for an afternoon of pizza, laser tag, and arcade games. There is also plenty to do in the summer! Pack your swimsuit, rent a boat and spend the day cruising across the lake; where after working up an appetite, dock the boat at one of the many restaurants along the lake! The fun doesn’t end there. Be sure to explore the State Park trails nearby or book an appointment to go horse back riding through the mountains. After an action-packed day head back to the house for an evening of relaxation. Fire up the gas grill and start a fresh, hot BBQ dinner or soak your muscles in the warm bubbles of the hot tub. On cooler evenings, challenge the kids to a family game night on the pool table or sit in front of the wood fireplace for a chill movie night. End the night out back roasting smores and sharing your favorite highlight of the trip. The possibilities are limitless, come book your stay now!

TL;DR - Swimming Bear Lodge was great for our stay with 4 adults and 4 kids. With a little improvement this could be a excellent place to stay We stayed at the Swimming Bear Lodge over the July 4th holiday and it was a great time. We traveled with 4 adults and 4 kids (ages 9,8,7,5). We loved the bed and bedroom situation, esp the bunk beds with the kids. The kitchen was smallish but worked for us. The multiple entertainment rooms were great as well. The fire pit was great at night and the hot tub was clean and well maintained. Walking to the lake/dock was okay, but certainly not easy. We had the community dock almost to ourselves all week which was nice. We had a few issues that resulted in the four, and not five star, review. The gutters desperately needed to be cleaned, and that along with the old water feature and landscaping led to a lot more bugs than was probably normal for a house in the woods. Also, we had a few home maintenance issues like a few chairs being broken but nothing too crazy. We would certainly stay again.

We really enjoyed our 8 night stay! I would say the only things I can note are: silverware could have been cleaner but definitely wasn't a big issue, and boat dock access is definitely not for people with mobility issues! These things definitely didn't keep us from enjoying our stay, we loved it!

Overall, this house is well designed and the interior is spacious, functional, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Interior was really clean. The kitchen was well stocked with pretty much everything you would need. The layout worked well for 8 of us; 4 parents and 4 high school/college aged kids who loved the game room. The exterior needs some attention. The yard has lots of interest and great birding but some of the outdoor furniture was broken, missing cushions and the deck needs some work - only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Railey was super responsive when we needed the hot tub cleaned. Iron in the water, but I suspect this is prevalent throughout the Deep Creek area; bring bottled drinking water. Great location and love the neighborhood. We would definitely stay at Swimming Bear Lodge again!
