The Railey Family History
In the early 1900s, C.M. Railey and his logging crew helped clear the trees and debris on what would become the lakebed of Deep Creek Lake. His close involvement with the Pennsylvania Electric Company allowed him to purchase a parcel of land that would be lakeside. After the lake was filled in 1925, the Railey family opened the Lakeside Park & Stone Tavern. The Lakeside Park offered a sandy beach area for visitors to enjoy. Once tourism began to pick up in the 1930s, the Railey family built small cabins on their property at the Lakeside Park to rent out to the 'vacationeers' visiting Deep Creek. The Railey family would continue to pioneer new businesses and opportunities at Deep Creek Lake for the next 80 years.

Railey Mountain Lake Vacations (now Railey Vacations) was founded in the 1980s to help better allow second homeowners a safe and efficient way to rent their properties to guests coming to Deep Creek. Nancy Railey had a vision for the future of vacation rentals - a vision that became reality with her revolutionary business model. As a property management company that handled both the care of the home and the booking process for the guest, Railey Vacations made it easier than ever to share the lake life experience with visitors.
