Deep Creek Lake is a great spot for biking! We have a mix of challenging terrain through state parks and around the lake to take your biking experience to the next level.
Mountain Biking
Several local state parks offer hiking trails that are also wonderful for biking. Top spots include Deep Creek Lake State Park, New Germany State Park, and Garrett State Forest. Wisp Resort also offers biking trails throughout their mountain of ski slopes. If you're looking for something a little different, check out Garrett Trails. They have a wide collections of trails and maps located throughout Garrett County. The Fork Run Recreational Area is managed by Garrett Trails and are located not far from central Deep Creek Lake! Bike rentals can be found at some of these parks, and at High Mountain Sports or the Aquatic Center.
Road Biking
Garrett County is home to two great biking competitions: the Savageman Triathlon and the Garrett County Gran Fondo. The Savegeman Triathlon is one of the toughest triathlons around! The high elevation of the rural area of Deep Creek Lake makes for tough climbs on your journey. At the end of winter, the roads department goes through and sweeps the roads keeping them in pristine condition throughout Spring, Summer, and Fall. Even if you're not into competitions, the roads around the lake make for some beautiful views on your casual bike ride.
