Things to Do at Deep Creek Lake

Wisp is finally open! After a good snowstorm helped us ring in the first day of December, we had over 8 inches of natural snow here at Deep Creek! You could say we started the month off on the right foot. Ever since then, Wisp has been cranking out the snow to add on top of that natural base layer. And now the day has finally come, opening day on the slopes! With Wisp opening, we thought we would answer some of the questions you probably have and give you some tips on how to make the most out of your Deep Creek winter getaway this season!

The best part of winter activities is that the thrills can be experienced from outside, making it easy to safely join in on the fun and remain socially-distant from others on the slopes at the same time. We already wear masks or neck gaiters ot keep us warm in the snow, and now they help keep us safe too! Wisp has done a great job planning how to operate during a global pandemic. While some procedures may run a little different on the mountain this year, one thing is for sure, the excitement and love of ski season is still the same. If you have questions about the updated procedures for the 2020-2021 season, check out Wisp's Covid info sheet below!

Grab your gear!

If you plan to hit the slopes, but don't have your own gear, don't worry! You can get everything you need right here at Deep Creek Lake. Both Wisp Resort and High Mountain Sports have everything you would need from snowboards to goggles and everything in between. High Mountain Sports even has a rental office located on Sang Run Rd next to Wisp. So once you have your lift ticket, grab your gear and head to the top of the mountain!

Skiing & Snowboarding not your thing?

Hit up the snow tubing park or the mountain coaster!

Both areas are opening this weekend too! You bring the crew, Wisp provides the fun! There is no skill or talent needed, just a love to sled. Take an easy ride to the top on one of the two conveyor carpets, then go flying down the 750 foot shutes to the bottom. With 12 chutes at the tubing park, you can even challenge your friends to a race!

If you haven't taken Wisp's mountain coaster for a ride, make sure you add that to your to-do list this winter season at Deep Creek! This incredible coaster heads up a 1,300 foot uphill track before descending back down through twists, turns, and dips for 3,500 feet downhill to the bottom. Each car holds up to two passengers and you can control your own speed. The unique tour of Wisp's beautiful snowy mountain makes this an experience you'll never forget!

Tickets for snow tubing and the mountain coaster can be purchased online prior to your arrival. Don't forget to bundle up!

Plan now so you can play later!
