There’s one month to go in Deep Creek Lake’s bustling summer season before many kids head back to school in the fall. While many of Summer 2021’s big hits, like 4th of July at the Lake, have come and gone — there’s still plenty to look forward to in August! Each Wednesday through the end of August, visitors can enjoy a free live concert at Wisp Resort from 6:30-9 PM under the saddle tent on the front lawn. Bring a blanket and some lawn chairs because you’ll be there for the night bopping along to fantastic local musicians! Get there early at 4 PM to enjoy the Farm & Art Market featuring booths with hand-crafted goods and fresh produce from local farmers and artisans. Food and drinks are also available for purchase all night on the outdoor deck.
Garrett County Agricultural Fair

Head over to the Garrett County Fairgrounds for the 64th Annual Garrett County Agricultural Fair. For those new to the area, this is the ultimate community fair with all the carnival rides, food, and all your favorite carnival games, plus a series of special events showcasing the exceptional talents of Garrett County’s local farmers, artists, students, technicians, and much more. This year’s fair features a Livestock Skill-aThon, a Custom Car Show, a 4-D Robotics Challenge, Equestrian Extravaganza, and tractor and truck pulls, among dozens of other events. If you’re visiting Deep Creek Lake the first week of August, you won’t want to miss this!

Now through the end of summer, enjoy gentle stretch yoga in Deep Creek Lake’s own lavender farm! From 9-10 AM, you can start the mornings feeling refreshed and rejuvenated with an easy yoga flow as you inhale the fresh lavender scent all around you. Open to all ages and skill levels, this class is taught by local yoga instructor Sheri Kosh. Be sure to book in advance using the link above and bring your own mat. Yogis are also encouraged to “relax on the porch afterward, shop the amazing gift shop which usually includes lavender-infused ice cream and lavender ice tea.” What’s not to love?!

If you’re staying at a property closer to Oakland, MD, or feel fup for a short drive, head over to the Mountain Fresh Pavilion in downtown Oakland for a concert series under the stars. From 7 -9:30 PM, local bands take to the stage for fun live performances that are totally free for visitors. It’s BYO chairs, blankets, and food and drinks, so come prepared; but the prep will all be well worth it when you’re sitting outside enjoying the ambiance of a Youghiogheny Riverfront concert experience.
Garrett County Country Fest & Auction

Visit the Garrett County Fairgrounds on August 28th for a truly unique Deep Creek Lake event. At the Country Fest and Auction, starting at 9:30 AM, place your bids for a number of handmade furniture, quilts, decor, crafts, antiques, and locally-cooked meals and desserts. This year’s auction proceeds go to local charities for Christain education and aid. There will also be tables and booths with local vendors sharing fresh produce, knick-knacks, and artisan products. This event is a great opportunity to snatch up some truly unique (and tasty) goods and to meet local Deep Creek artisans and vendors.
