Wisp Resort is a four-season resort offering activities for your whole group all year round. Whether it’s a game of golf or snowboarding, you can have a memorable experience at Wisp. With over 33 slopes, 11 miles of trails, and 7 chairlifts, Wisp is our local ski resort. They even host many competitions throughout the inter-season which typically runs from Late November to mid-March.
SKIING & SNOWBOARDING
Maryland's only ski resort is located right here at Deep Creek Lake! Wisp Resort offers over 137 acres of skiable terrain including 33 slopes. Ranging from beginner to expert slopes, you can bring the whole crew no matter what skill level.
Over the years, Wisp has become a hot spot for locals and travelers all wanting to hit the slopes. Whether it's a blue sky day or a clear night under the stars, you can plan to explore the trails on Wisp Mountain. Over 90% of the trails are lit for night skiing and riding from Tuesday through Sunday. Even with the large amount of snowfall known to come to the area, Wisp has become experts at snowmaking to keep the terrain in its best condition.
If it's your first time out on the slopes, don't worry. In addition to the downhill slopes, there are also bunny slopes for you to get familiar with your gear before heading up the lift. Instructors are also available to help you learn the tricks of skiing and snowboarding. On the other hand, if you're looking to try out some freestyle techniques, take a trip around the terrain park. Wisp staff members keep the park well-maintained and change it up throughout the season. You can even watch some competitions here throughout the winter season.
SNOW TUBING & SLEDDING
Tubing is an easy winter activity because it doesn't take much skill to go flying down the hill. The worst part is usually the hike back up to the top of the hill. Wisp makes it easy at their tubing park. It keeps the fun and thrills of snow tubing, with added conveniences to enjoy the park all day. No equipment is needed, they provide the tube. Once you're ready to go, step onto one of the conveyor belts to ride up to the top. After that, choose from one of the 12 groomed tubing lanes, each 750 ft long, and slide on down to the bottom.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Within the resort's Sundown Village, you can try cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Here they offer rentals, and lessons, and have trails to explore.
GOLF
There are two top-notch golf courses located at Wisp Resort. Fantasy Valley is located at the base of the resort and has top-ranked greens to enjoy. At the top of the mountain is Lodestone Golf Course which highlights incredible mountain and lake views.
ZIP-LINING & ROPES COURSES
During the summer season, try for a thrilling adventure throughout Wisp's zip-lining and ropes courses. How much fun does the ‘Chipmunk Challenge’ sound? How about the ‘Spider Monkey Adventure’ or the ‘Flying Squirrel Canopy Tour’? These three ropes courses are designed to challenge climbers of all ages (6+) to a series of zip lines, cargo nets, and more. The trained guides will help you get the adventure started.
LAKE RENTALS
Looking to get out on the water, but not sure where to go? Venture over to Deep Creek Lake State Park. Here you can enjoy the sandy beach, but also rent a kayak or paddle board to enjoy the water from a different view.
WHITEWATER RAFTING
ASCI, located at Wisp Resort is the world's only mountaintop whitewater rafting course. Get the whole crew together and explore this man-made course for an unforgettable experience.
ESCAPE ROOMS
You don't have to be a genius to get in on the excitement. Just put your heads together and have fun! At Wisp Resort, you'll find the lake's only escape rooms: Race to the Slopes and Detention Breakout. These two challenging rooms will keep you puzzled and having fun. The rooms are located on the lower level of McHenry Lodge at Wisp Resort on the northern end of Deep Creek Lake. Escape rooms are a great activity for any group during any season. MOUNTAIN COASTER
Also located next to the tubing park is the mountain coaster. The mountain coaster is open year-round so you can enjoy amazing lake and mountain views during all four seasons!
CHAIRLIFT RIDES
There may not be any snow on the mountain, but that doesn’t have to keep you away from the chairlifts at Wisp Resort! Grab your camera and a friend (or two!) for a scenic chairlift ride up the mountain to behold spectacular sweeping panoramas of the mountainside overlooking Deep Creek Lake. Once you’re up there, consider a hike on one of Wisp’s mountaintop trails!

Wisp Resort also offers access to biking trails throughout its mountain of ski slopes.
