Bug Beware

The view from the tall castle was amazing but we could not get past the amount of bugs inside the house- moths, ants, spiders, beetles. Majority of my travel group came back with bumps and rashes and did not know if that was from bed bugs or the furniture.

We are so happy to hear that your group loved the spectacular view from this home, but are not happy to hear that you had to share the view with various assorted and sundry bugs. Of course, being in the mountains on a lake surrounded by trees does guarantee that you will never be completely bug free, there should never be so many that they interfere with your vacation. I'm so sorry you had that experience. I have passed this information on to the homeowner and our maintenance department who will solve this problem. We stayed at Tall Castle in May of 2022. The pictures definitely show the wonderful view of the lake you have from this property, however, if you're looking for an updated, modern, well maintained home, look elsewhere. This house has great potential but is very run down in terms of furniture, paint, hot tub, porches, balconies, etc. The kitchen was well stocked and the washer/dryer, although old, did work well. For the expense, I would have expected something much more well taken care of.

This house was not what was expected. The house needs many updates with things not working. . Maintenance to the house needs to be done on a regular basis. Hot tub did not work. Unable to access firepit due to high weeds and grass. Door knobs falling off in you hand when opening doors and screen doors falling off track when trying to slide. Furniture needs to be replaced. Sofa falling apart . Beds that were advertised was not what was in the house and was hard.

So beautiful, but needs some TLC

This house has wonderful potential. The view was beautiful and was so close to everything we wanted to do in Deep Creek. However, the house was not taken care of and given the updates that it needs. We enjoyed the outside dining area though we had to move chairs from inside to seat all our family and the adults enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. We could not use the fire pit as it was down a hill with overgrown grass and no seating around it. We loved our trip, but would choose a different house next trip.

Before even checking into the house, I called about the bad reviews & was told they were fixed. When we got to the house, the hot tub did not work, the fridge did not keep anything cold, the garbage disposal did not work, bar stools are broken, and there are so many weeds that you cannot even walk to what they consider a fire ring. Very unhappy. When we called to inquire about such issues they were “not able to help” because it was after hours and I was told the longer I talked, the longer it would take for her to try to get maintenance. Would not recommend this house until things were fixed up! Only nice thing about the house was the view!!

Great view but needs updates and items fixed

Great view good location. Hot tub not working only 74 degrees, dishwasher not working, door handle fell off, refrigerator not getting cold so they brought us a loaner refrigerator and put it in the living room and left the broken refrigerator too. We bought ice and used coolers for our food to keep it cold. Lots of spider webs, stains on items, main door sticks and takes 2 hands to open, pool table placed between 2 basement poles so hard to use properly. House does provide spacey rooms, a good view, and area had lots to do.

The overall house was okay, had a lot of problems. Fridge not working at all and called twice and finally got a loaner fridge our last day, hot tub not working, lots of things in the house needs updated and/or fixed. Just a lot of stressing about things not working and trying to get a hold of people to come fix things.

I don’t think I would ever rent this place, unless it’s improved

No hot water in the top floor bathroom makes for a cold shower and jets to the tub not working.

I had a great time. Communication was easy fantastic. It was a bummer that the hot tub was broken by the previous renter, but they offered to fix it during my stay, however I declined for privacy and they respected that. They have flat screen tvs which are not in pictures, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall 10/10 would recommend. Amazing beautiful location.
