Local's Tips for Fishing

If you've arrived in town and realized you've forgotten something, or you want to stock up on a little more bait, there are local fishing and outdoor shops that sell all kinds of live bait and different lures. The best live bait to use here is typically nightcrawlers, shiners, or crawfish. If you're looking to use artificial lures, we recommend using topwater lures, spinners, and jigs.

The best time to go fishing is earlier in the morning or in the evening when the lake isn't so busy.

The weather here in Garrett County can be unpredictable and has been known to quickly change throughout the day. We recommend bringing extra items with you to be prepared. An extra set of clothes, rain gear, comfortable shoes, and sunscrean can help you be prepared for any weather that day.
